What's better than a fluffy armchair and a cozy quilt on a snowy evening -- with a hot cup of cocoa and captivating book in your lap?
Then again, it's hard to beat a colorful light bedspread on a warm spring evening, the call of a tree frog making its debut outside the window screen.
Scraps of summer dresses, old floral sheets, flour sacks were tenderly fashioned and sewn together by our mothers, aunts, grandmothers, friends, maybe uncles or fathers -- each square added its own unique feel to the end masterpiece.
Perhaps the warmth we find in these coverlets is not simply from the soft, homey snuggle they gift to us but from all the memories wrapped up in their very making -- the artful hands that dreamt and imagined these intricacies, knowing they would be an inheritance, handed down to loved ones some day.
We can live our lives in beautiful little pieces too! Even sections that we aren't the happiest with, will add to the elegance of the mosaic that is our lives.
-- Thanks to my mother-in-law, Bridget, who lovingly created at least a dozen quilts. All of her family is enjoying them ♥ --
