My Story

As a lover of Life's stories – the beautiful, the sad, the joyous, the simple, the enchanted – I relish sharing my written creations with you. Since I was a girl, I've frequently lived more in my imagination than the physical world, as I have often been reminded ☺ This is where I find my spark, my passion – and my hope that you will enjoy entering this world alongside me.

With one foot in fantasy, I’ve also developed a passion for taking “unlovely” things and bringing out their hidden beauty. One grade-school morning, our teacher presented the class with a box of used shiny blue wrapping paper, ribbons, old buttons and torn fabric. My eyes were wide with desire. This box of treasures was to be chanced off to the group. When my name was announced, I felt I had been handed a most splendid, magical gift! It remains one of my favorites to this day.

That evening, my grandmother and I brought out the true grandeur of these scraps. They were sparkly Christmas ornaments, intricate snowflakes, gilded stationery. It was then I knew everything had a beauty. Even hard things, discarded things or dirty things. And this is the nature of Life.

When I understood that same creativity could flow from mind and heart through a pen to paper, it began a voyage in me. A journey that has halted and commenced over the years depending upon where Life has situated me. School days brought the creation of little Mothers' Day cards, the excitement of descriptive writing, the awakening of the love of English Literature. Despite being encouraged by a wonderful teacher, I decided my path would be one of work directly after school rather than pursuing an education in the Writing Arts. Still, my enthusiasm for expression through the written word shown through with poems, journaling and short stories. The beautiful years of raising children with my husband brought things to new heights – learning and sharing the magic of the inner world with innocent curious minds spurred my artistic vision in so many lovely directions.

My continued experiences in life fed the well spring within and I now find myself at a place where I have the ability to expand my learning online, interact with a wonderful writers’ group and devote myself more and more to this amazing voyage.

My hope is that through this journey, I can bring forth my inner vision and present Life’s stories, often contradictory in their brilliance and darkness – always with a spark of beauty, ever present through the grace of the Creator.
