There's an excitement about setting out on an autumn morning, admiring the bright orange overlay of maple leaves above the darker mysteriousness of the woods. We love to enjoy a coffee or warm chai tea in our coziest sweaters!
A stop at a little roadside farmer's market tops off our afternoon -- wooden tables filled with every size and shape of pumpkin, urging us to form the perfect jack-o-lantern faces! Gourds of deep green, mustard yellow and burnt orange speak to us of fall displays on our own front porches.
Crisp apples, bins of potatoes and concord grapes just wait to be made into luscious pies, soups, jellies and jams!
Colorful corn somehow hearkens us back to the simplicity of Mother Earth. Folklore says this "Indian" corn was named for the Native American peoples of North America who used it for flour, cornmeal and popcorn. Today, most of us just enjoy it's beauty.
So to all the farmers who carefully nurture their crops in order to bring us these fall treasures -- we thank you for the picturesque and delicious pit stops on our autumn journeys 🍂
